HAND-BOUND BOOKS + JOURNALS
All it took was one book-binding class in college to spark my love affair with paper. Sensual, sexy, serious, sturdy - paper can be all of those things and more. It is one of the most versatile mediums I have ever worked with as an artist because it can be used to create art that is extraordinarily strong and structured, as in the case of books and architectural models, or beautifully free and flowing as in the case of sculptures or hand-made papers from pulps.
I specialize in unique and beautifully crafted goods that are all imbued with the soft yet sturdy, serious yet sensual nature of paper. Each book, journal and planner is filled with hand-cut pages of high quality, acid-free paper, carefully stitched together by me, and adorned with a hand-painted paste paper cover. Every cover is inherently unique because the colors and patterns that emerge in the process of creating paste-papers (which feels a lot like finger painting) could not be replicated even if I tried. This guarantees that every book is a one-of-a-kind work of art, from each color and pattern to every stitch and knot.
